About this branch

Freeman Forman Robertsbridge branch is located on the historic High Street within a period Grade II Listed property.

The village of Robertsbridge is thought to date back to 1176, when a Cistercian abbey was founded there by Abbott Robert De St Martin. The name Robertsbridge was first used in 1198 when Richard I granted a market charter. The abbey was dissolved in 1538, however the village flourished and many of the oldest houses in the village date back to the 14th and 15th century. The characterful high street boasts a collection of wonderful houses and cottages.

Robertsbridge is a thriving community with a friendly village feel and there is plenty to do and get involved in. There are many societies and clubs and an active bonfire society who have their annual bonfire in mid-November every year – a must see event. The High Street offers a variety of shops including a Post Office, pharmacy, artisan coffee shop and convenience stores. There is also an excellent selection of pubs within the village and surrounding areas. The area supports several good state and private schools.

The village is in East Sussex approximately 10 miles North of the seaside town of Hastings and 13 miles south east of Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent. The village is also near to Battle (site of the Battle of 1066) and the picturesque Cinque Port town of Rye.

Robertsbridge has a main line railway station with an excellent service into London Bridge, Charing Cross and Cannon Street as well as services down to and along the south coast. There are excellent road links via the A21 within East Sussex and onwards towards Kent and the M25.
